An effective treatment strategy for hamstring symptoms is using kinesiology tape.  Place the tape in a vertical way along the entire course of the attachments of the hamstring, starting at the origin in the buttocks and making a longitudinal strip down to the back of the knee.  If the pain is primarily in the knee area, start the tape vertically from the knee area and pull lightly upwards to the buttocks.  


Kinesiology tape is frequently used to treat overuse injuries.  It reduces pain on the hamstring by preventing excessive straining and pulling on the tendon, while increasing the effort and power it can generate.  It also decreases swelling and inflammation of the tendon.  Kinesiology tape can be found at most sporting goods stores and is easily applied with my educational videos and photos.
